Everything Is All Right! ~ Part Two

Often times we humans have a tendency to look at others and think they have no worries or problems. We think they have no idea what I am going through. The truth of the matter is we are all on the same planet. The color of our skin, the clothes we wear, the house we live in or the car we drive doesn’t matter. Heartache, trouble and the cares of life are no respecter of persons.

In 2 Kings of the Old Testament (in the Holy Bible) you can read about a well-to-do Shunammite woman.

2 Kings 4:8-9 One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. 9 She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.”
Every time Elisha would come through town he and his servant would stay at the home of this couple. On one of his visits he wanted to do something special for the woman because of all the kindness she had shown him. He learned through his servant that the woman didn’t have a son. This in not something we would ever consider as a ‘thank-you’ gift. However, Elisha prophesied: “About this time next year you will hold a son in your arms.” A year later she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had said.

Verses 18-26  The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers. 19 “My head! My head!” he said to his father.

His father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” 20 After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died. 21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out.

22 She called her husband and said, “Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return.”

23 “Why go to him today?” he asked. “It’s not the New Moon or the Sabbath.”

“It’s all right,” she said.

24 She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, “Lead on; don’t slow down for me unless I tell you.” 25 So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel.

When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, “Look! There’s the Shunammite! 26 Run to meet her and ask her, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’”


“Everything is all right,” she said.

She has one thing on her mind. And nothing or no one was going to stop her. Pushing pass the servant she didn’t stop till she reached the man of God.’

Verse 27,30  When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet...“As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So he got up and followed her.

Elisha follows the Shunammite woman back home. He goes to the boys room and prays for him. God raises the boy back to life and Elisha gives him to his mother.

What an amazing story of a well-to-do woman, who was in a desperate situation and would stop at nothing till she reached God.

Now, I have never seen the dead raised but I believe God can and still preforms miracles today. However, there have been many times in my life when I have found myself in a desperate situation and have hit my knees, taking hold of the feet of Jesus, in prayer, telling Him, “I will not leave You until you help me.” He has always answered!

What about you today? What desperate situation are you facing? Jesus is not only able to help you, He wants to help you!

The friends we made in Jamaica back in 1985 sang a wonderful song that went like this:

It is all right, all right.       
It is all right, all right.
As long as I have my Lord beside me
It is all right.

As long as I have His hand to hold
As long as He’s watching over my soul
As long as I’m under His control
It is all right!

I have faced times in my life I don’t know how I would have come through them with out Jesus! He can do the same for you.

I close with this prayer. A prayer the apostle Paul prayed over the church in Ephesus:
                                                   
Ephesians 3:16-21 (New Testament)
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Zucchini Casserole with Stuffing Mix


Another Great Zucchini Recipe ~ Enjoy!

2 pounds zucchini or 6 cups, cut into chunks
½ cup chopped onion
1 can cream of celery soup, (do not add water)
1 cup Mayonnaise or sour cream (I use Mayonnaise)
1 cup grated carrots (I use 2 carrots and chop them small in food processor)
1-8 ounce package Chicken Flavor Stove Top Stuffing (OMIT THE WATER)
1 stick melted butter

Preheat oven to 400º. Spray a 2 quart casserole dish with Pam cooking spray.

Slice zucchini into chunks and chop onion. Place both in an appropriate size sauce pan. Cover with water enough to cover zucchini. Cook zucchini and onion about 5 - 6 minutes in boiling water. (Let this come to a boil before you start timing.) Drain and set aside. Or sometimes I sauté them in a skillet till tender.

In a bowl mix soup, mayonnaise or sour cream, grated carrots and the cooked zucchini and onion mixture. Mix well. Then add the DRY Stove Top stuffing mix. Pour in the melted butter and mix well.

Place this mixture into the Pam sprayed 2 quart Glass casserole dish. Bake for about 50 - 60 minutes or until lightly browned and the casserole is set and bubbly.

Hint: Doubled, this recipe will fit in a 4 quart casserole dish. Will accompany most any kind of meat dish.

Good substitute for potatoes or rice.




Zucchini Bread with Coconut

Summer time foods are always enjoyable.
Give the zucchini bread recipe a try.

3 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 cups raw grated zucchini
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup of coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, oil and vanilla.

In a separate bowl mix flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder and baking soda. Add dry mixture to sugar, egg and oil mixture. Stir well. Add zucchini, coconut (if using) and nuts.

Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans. (I line bottom of pan with parchment paper instead, no grease or flour required when using parchment paper.)

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. (If using glass or dark pans, bake at 325 degrees.) Cool in pans 5 minutes after baking.

If using parchment paper instead of greasing and flouring pans, run a butter knife around the edges to release from pan. Remove from pans and place on cooling racks.

Everything Is All Right! ~ Part One

Several years ago my husband and I were Children’s Evangelist. For eight years we traveled up and down the east cost holding Kid’s Crusades. We spent forty-four weeks of the year in a different cities holding action packed services for families, telling them of the love of Jesus through puppet, games, Bible stories, contest and lots of fun. We ended each week with a twenty-four foot banana split! What fun we had.

In 1985 our travels took us to Jamaica for the entire month of February. We held thirty-five services in twenty-one days. It was not a vacation! It was during that time we experienced a miracle with our son Christopher.

Chris had just turned three the end of December and two days after his birthday he started running high fevers and had difficulty eating. We had taken him to the doctor only to be told it was just something going around and it would soon pass. A week later there was no change, so we returned to the doctor. This time they ran test for strep throat only to tell us that it was clear. Trips to the doctor’s office and to the emergency room continued throughout the month of January. Each time we were sent home with instructions to continue giving him Tylenol for the fever, everything looks alright. But things were not alright. Every time he would fall asleep his fever would shoot up. And when he was awake he wouldn’t eat anything.

The day arrived for us to fly out of Tampa, Florida and there was still no change in Chris’ condition. We flew out on February first praying and trusting God with our son.

We had only been in Jamaica for a couple of days when Chris got worse. We had been praying for him, trusting God for healing. Now, I was desperate! Our son needed a miracle!

It was early in the night when I laid him on our bed. I fell on my knees beside him and did what I should have done from the very beginning. I cried out to God in desperation...as I prayed Chris lay on the bed crying, “Pray mommy, pray mommy, pray!” I would respond...”I am honey. God’s going to heal you!” My husband quietly facing the other direction. He too was praying. He prayed for me while I prayed for Chris.

Hours had passed and I was determined that I would not get off my knees until our son was healed. I prayed until his fever broke and he fell asleep. He slept through the rest of the night with no fever, no signs of sickness. He awoke the next morning saying, “Mommy, I’m hungry.”
God had given us the miracle we so desperately needed.

One doesn’t have to look far to know there are so many needing a miracle in their lives. Maybe you are one of them. Lately, I have been reminded that He is still the God who preforms miracles. I pray for you today, that you would experience a miracle in your life!

Luke 18:27 Jesus said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”


Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God.”
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Seventy Times Seven

Recently I heard the following song and I wanted to share it with you. The song is called ‘Please Forgive Me’ the words brought tears to my eyes. This morning I awoke with this song flooding my mind. Then it hit me many people struggle with the question, “How God could ever forgive me for the things I’ve done?” Maybe you have asked that question yourself.  I can’t tell you how many time I have had someone say to me, “But you don’t know what I’ve done.” My reply, “You’re right. But on the other hand, you don’t know what I’ve done either and yet God has forgiven me.”

You see every person who has lived long enough on this earth, has a past. Every person has gone places, said things, and done things they regret or even feel ashamed of. I once heard Billie Graham say, “You can’t unscramble an egg.” How true that is. We can’t change the past. But we can choose a different path for our future.

Can I be frank with you?    

It doesn’t matter what we have done in the past. Jesus loved us enough to give His very life so our sins could be forgiven and we would be able to make heaven our eternal home.

When Jesus was hanging on the cross he prayed,  “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34

Did you hear that? The very people who spat in his face, who pulled out his beard, who pushed a crown of thorns into his head and beat him mercilessly on his back all before nailing him to a cross and then to top it off jabbed a spear into his side. Those very people he prays for and asked the Father to forgive them!

If He can forgive those who would do all this to him then He will forgive us for what we have done as well.

Peter once asked Jesus, “Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Look at the answer Jesus gave him, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.” That’s a lot of forgiveness!

Jesus would never tell us to do anything he is not willing to do. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what we have done in our past He is ready and willing to forgive any and all sin. Why? Because He Love Us!

The sad part is to many people listen to the lies of satan. He stands pointing a finger at God, while telling us, “It’s all his fault you are in this mess. He doesn’t love you, if he did he would have never let all these things happen to you.”

When the truth is, satan is the one who comes to steal and kill and destroy. Jesus is the I who came that we might have life abundantly.  John 10:10

My friend, the truth is satan was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

I want you to know...it doesn’t matter what we have done in our past, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

PLEASE FORGIVE ME

Father God, there are so many people who feel that you can not love them because of the things they have done in their past. So, for those who read this blog today Father please reveal yourself to them in a personal way today. Help them to understand that your love covers all our sins. In Jesus Name, Amen
