A LIVING GOD!

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. Then the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them,  "You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep." If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.
 Matthew 28:1-15

We all know people who devise plans to cover up the truth, maybe we have been guilty of doing this very thing ourselves.
The biggest lie every told was the lie that Jesus did not rise from the dead. And sad to say there have been thousands, even millions, who have believed this lie.

If there ever was a truth that Satan wanted to distort, it is this one. For he knows that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ sets true Christianity apart from all the religions of the world. Those who have chosen to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ are the only ones on the earth who can say they serve a LIVING GOD! No other religion can make that claim. The graves of their leaders are not empty!

I have come to know the Jesus of the Bible in a personal way. I have experienced His unconditional love and forgiveness. I have experienced His peace when troubling times come; along with a joy, in the midst of those times, that is difficult to explain.

Jesus has changed my life and I can't imagine what it would be like without Him....Well, actually I can! For that reason I choose every day to choose Jesus!

I pray for you today. I pray you come to know this Living God, if you don't already. He is the One and Only True God!

Give Me A Drink

Isaiah 55:1,2,4,6 “Come all you who are thirsty...Listen, listen to me and eat what is good...See I have made him a witness to the peoples...Seek the Lord while He may be found.”

Did you ever stop to think that the God who created the universe wants you to spend time with him and that He has something to say to you?

Come ~ For those who are truly thirsty and hungry for more of God, He has given us an open invitation to come into His presence. And once we come He says, “Listen, listen to Me eat what is good.”

Listen ~ Not once, but twice God says, “Listen, listen to Me”. He has given us His Word, the Bible, which is full of instructions of how to like and walk this journey on earth.

Eat what is good ~ King David said, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8

Have you ever found a food that you really like and you don’t think twice about going back for seconds maybe even thirds.  How many times have you said, “This is so good, I just can’t get enough.”?

This is what God is calling us to. Come if you are thirsty and drink in My Word. Come and eat up my Word. You’ll find something that tastes so good. Something that will give us hope and a future and it is all found in His Word!

See ~ He wants you to take a look into His Word and see His Son, Jesus Christ.  Jesus is our witness of what is to come and since He has enter eternity. Jesus said in John 18:37 ... “I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” One who testifies is a witness.

Seek ~ We are all told to ... “Seek the Lord while He may be found.” There is a day coming when the presence of God will no longer be upon this earth. Many will cry out to God only to find He is no longer there. It is vital that we all seek Him while He may be found. We can’t give up. We must keep on seeking, every day. Not once in awhile but continually.

The prophet Hosea tells us, “Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12

Every day I choose to Come to God. I choose to Listen to what He has to say and Eat what is good for my soul through reading the Bible. I choose to search out the testimony of Jesus for He is an eye-witness from the beginning till the end. I choose to Seek the Lord while He may be found.

Oh, there have been many times I have had to break up the unplowed ground of my heart, areas that have become hard because of circumstances in my life.

I leave you with this verse from Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

Father God in Heaven, there may be some who have tried to come to You in the past and for some reason have not felt Your presence. You have promised that those who seek You will find You, if they seek You with all their heart. Be with each one who reads this blog. Let them feel Your presence in a personal way and find HOPE that can only come from You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!

A good place in the Holy Bible to read and learn about Jesus is the gospels, which are the first four books of the New Testament ...Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Before you start reading ask God to open your mind to understand the scripture and to reveal His Son, Jesus Christ to you. He will answer your prayer!

Prayer For America

Billy Graham's Prayer at 95 yrs old

From a man the media has never been able to throw dirt on.....amazing!
He has certainly hit the "world" on the head!
Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation

THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY!

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and set us free. Amen!'

I couldn't have said it better myself! May God have mercy on America!

Hosea 10:12
Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you.

Freedom

Year after year millions across America celebrate the Fourth of July, a day of Independence for our nation. However, freedom for a nation doesn’t come cheap. Many brave men and women throughout history have given their lives so we can experience the freedom we have today. Sad to say the price for American’s freedom is never paid in full. Payment is still being made as our service men and women continue to fight so we can be free. Having traveled to other countries I am so thankful for the freedom we have in the United States of America.

Two things that come to mind when I think of the word Freedom. The first thing is the Statue of Liberty.

The statue was a gift to the United States from the people of France and has become an icon of freedom for our nation. She stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor with her torch raised to the sky, a tablet evoking the law in her hand, (with the inscription of the date declaring our nations Independence, July 4, 1776) and a broken chain lying at her feet. A constant reminder of freedom, for all who see her.

The second thing that comes to mind when I think of the word Freedom is the Cross Jesus died on.

Many brave men and women have given their lives because they love our country. Jesus gave his life because he loves the world. The freedom He offers is freedom for our soul and it didn’t come cheap either.

When reading about the Statue of Liberty a few things stood out to me.

1) She was offered as a gift ~ Paid for by someone else.

Jesus has offered us the best gift ever...the gift of eternal live.

Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2) She holds a torch ~ Lighting the way.

David said in Psalm 119:105   Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

God has given us His Word to show us the way to eternal freedom as we walk this journey of life.

3) She holds a tablet ~ Evoking the law.

We read about another tablet in the book of Exodus. Two tablets of stone inscribed by the very finger of God. These two tablets held the ten commandments ... God’s laws for mankind. It doesn’t take long .... We don’t have to look hard to see what has happened to our world because these ten, simple commands have been broken, do we?

4) Broken chains lie at her feet ~ Freeing the bound.

When a person is held in bondage they are often chained around their ankles. Why? So they can't run.

For those who have received the gift of God, we celebrate the day we receive Jesus as our second Independence Day.

Galatians 5:1   “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

There is a song we sing at church:
“All the chains are broken and I have been set free.” The choirs says: “I am free to run. I am free to dance. I am free to live for You. I am free!”

Unlike American’s Freedom which is never paid in full, Christ’s death on the cross pain the full price for our sin. Nothing more is need! Oh, that is such great news!

1 Peter 3:18 tells us “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit...”

As I thought about this Independence day, there is a song I just can’t seem go to get out of my mind. I would love to share that song with you. It is called “The Statue of Liberty”. If you would like to hear the song just go to:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kCcpmGcm3g

I pray you have experienced your second, and most important Independence Day. If you haven’t and would like to it’s so easy. Just start by talking to God. Tell him the things you have done that have broken His laws and ask Him to forgive you. Then turn from those things. Start reading the manual He gave for freedom. You will soon find yourself singing.... “I am free to run. I am free to dance. I am free to live for You. I am FREE!”

1 Peter 2:16   Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

Jesus Christ

Ritual or Relationship?

Many in North America view Christianity as a religion. However, Christianity is not a religion at all; it is an intimate, growing relationship with none other than Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. It is not a set of doctrines to believe, habits to practice, or sins to avoid.

To be a Christian means one is ‘Christ Like’. In the book of Acts we can read in that; “The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.” Why the word Christian? Because they were devoted followers of Jesus. Their relationship with Jesus had changed their lives drastically and their actions and speech reflected who they had become; like Christ.

God does not give us guidelines to be mean or cruel. Every command of God is intended to enhance His love relationship with His creation, mankind.

We have been designed to worship God and to see Him in His glory and to respond appropriately. Unfortunately, for many it has become a ‘religion’; one more meeting to attend out of habit, a social gathering filled with social activities.

God is longing for His creation to express their love for Him. Many time we feel if we use our gifts and talents in doing good deeds for others in our community we will appease God and pacify our guilty conscience.

God is a personal God, and He has given us prayer as a means of communicating with Him. Prayer is nothing more than talking with God like you would talk to a very close friend. After all, that is exactly what He longs to be; your very close friend.

Proverbs 18:24 says, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Communication is a two way street. As you spend time talking with God take time to listen to what is on His heart a well. Yes, it is true God wants to speak to you! The greatest way He speaks in through His written Word the Holy Bible. Before you go to read, ask Him to speak to you and He will.

God instituted His commandments as a protection for those He loves, but the commandments can become a pathway to legalism rather than a avenue for a relationship with our Father in which He protects us from harm.

Religious activity apart from fellowship with God is nothing more than an empty ritual. The people of Jeremiah’s day were satisfied to have the ritual without the presence of God. They became so comfortable with their ‘religion’ that they didn’t even notice God’s absence. Their story is found in the Holy Bible in the book of  Jeremiah.

So, is it possible to pray, to attend a church service, or to give an offering yet not to experience the presence of God? It certainly is possible! And sad to say thousands of hurting people; looking for hope, peace and comfort have faced this emptiness. Many have said, “What the use. There is nothing to this ‘religion’ stuff.”

Let me encourage you ... Don’t settle for a religious life that lacks a vital relationship with Jesus Christ. When God is present, the difference will be obvious.

God wants us to experience Him and His presence.

Jesus said in the book of Matthew, chapter 18, verse 20 “Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”  He is not a liar. God always says what He means and He means what He says.

So, today if you have been one of those who have tried ‘religion’ and are still feeling empty, lonely and hurting; let me encourage you to find a Bible Believing Church; one who preaches and teaches Jesus Christ and get connected.

If you live in the Pottstown, Pennsylvania area and are looking for a church of people who love Jesus and are devoted to following Him; then I invite you to join us on Sunday mornings at 10am.
